Val-Dieu Abbey is a Belgian brewery set in Aubel, a small town in the Walloon province of Liegi, that produces high quality beers.
The original name is Abbaye Notre-Dame du Val-Dieu, and it was found by Cistercians monks in 1216 A.D.
According to an ancient Legend, the actual Valley that hosts the abbey was once an abandon, uninhabited and hostile place, so the locals named it Val du Diable (Valley of the Devil). Later, when the monks started to set, they called it Val-Dieu (Valley of God). The monastery was built in the Middle Age, and reached its golden age in the 18th century.
